Navigating the Vets Cymru event space at Aberystwyth University

Our event takes place across several buildings on the Penglais Campus at Aberystwyth University, with some sessions requiring a short walk between venues. This page is designed to help you familiarise yourself with the site layout ahead of your visit. Here you’ll find venue details, accessibility information, building locations, and guidance to help you plan your route and make the most of your experience at the event.

Building Locations & Walking

Our programme is hosted across several key buildings on campus. To help you plan your movement between sessions, we've listed below the primary event locations and estimated walking times from the main Registration Area (located in the Penbryn Building).

Please allow extra time if you prefer a steady walking pace or require mobility support. Volunteers will be stationed along key routes to offer guidance during peak movement times.

Penbryn Building

On arrival head straight to the Penbryn Building main entrance. Find the BSAVA Team located at the ground floor reception, and collect your event pass and lanyard.

Upstairs on the 1st Floor, accessible via stairs or lift, you will find the Medrus Conference Centre

Standard toilet facilities are available on ground floor and 1st floor. Adapted facilities are on the 1st floor.

The exhibition will be located in Medrus and Medrus 1. 

Morning and afternoon refreshments and lunch will be served in Medrus. Limited seating and tables will be available throughout the event.

A smaller boardroom, this space will be available to event speakers to prepare for their session; when this room is not in use for programmed sessions.

AHIC Drop In sessions will be held in Medrus 2 on Friday.

Hugh Owen Building

A short 3 minute walk from Penbryn, you will find the Hugh Owen building next door. Here, the Large Animal and Small Animal Veterinary stream lectures are based.

A12 is home to our Small Animal Veterinary lectures, and keynote lecture.

  • Enter Level A of the Hugh Owen extension. A12 is situated on the right hand side of the foyer.

A14 is home to our Large Animal lectures.

Lecture theatre room capacity: 82

  • A14 is located on Level A of the Hugh Owen building extension.
  • Fully accessible ground floor room.
  • Hearing: induction loop.
  • Enter Level A of this building through the entrance on the left. A14 is situated at the far end of the passageway on the left hand side of the foyer.

Vet Education Centre

We are excited to add the VEC as a venue for some of our practical and clinical skills sessions.

Located further across campus, the VEC is approx. 8 minute steady walk on flat ground from Penbryn and Hugh Owen.

  • Training Room - Large Animal practical workshops

  • Small limited parking next to building. Permit must be displayed. No dedicated disabled bay.

Car Parking & Permits

Onsite free visitor parking is available to all Vets Cymru delegates, speakers and exhibitors, at the Penglais Campus. All visitors must print and complete the permit form linked below, and displayed in your windscreen for the duration of your visit.

The downloadable Penglais Parking Map details the location of visitor car parks, number of parking bays, and availability of disabled bays.
