Crash kit essentials: Building a kit that works when you need it

Thursday, July 2, 2026, 2:00 PM - 2:30 PM | Penbryn Medrus 4 | Lecture | ECC

This session is part of both Small Animal Vet and Small Animal Nurse streams. All attendees welcome.

In a busy general practice, emergencies can arrive unexpectedly—and when they do, it is all too common for crash boxes to have issues such as missing items, being overstocked, or containing out-of-date drugs. This session will equip both vets and nurses with the knowledge needed to transform your crash kit into a truly reliable “go-to” in an emergency.

By the end of this session, delegates will be able to:

  • Identify the essential components of an effective veterinary crash box and understand the purpose of each item.
  • Organise and maintain a crash box to ensure it remains ready for immediate use.
  • Develop and implement routine inspection, rotation, and documentation protocols to minimise errors and prevent missing or expired supplies.
  • Select appropriate equipment and emergency drugs for inclusion in a crash box based on practice type, case load, and team skill levels.
